Excellent outdoor durability

Thermaset Limited offer a range of nylon modified powder coatings designed for both interior and exterior use. Coatings are specially formulated on selected polyester resins and pigments to give a tough decorative finish with the addition of a nylon modification to increase mar, scuff and abrasion resistance.

Architectural pearlescent powder coatings are an exciting advancement in the world of building design. These coatings not only enhance the visual appeal of structures but also offer practical benefits that make them a popular choice among architects and builders.

What are Architectural Pearlescent Powder Coatings?

Powder coatings are a type of finish applied to surfaces, usually metals, to protect them and give them a decorative look. Unlike liquid paints, powder coatings are applied as a dry powder. This powder is then heated, causing it to melt and form a smooth, durable layer. Pearlescent powder coatings are a special type of powder coating that includes fine pearlescent pigments. These pigments create a shimmering, pearl-like effect, making surfaces look more attractive and vibrant.

Benefits of Architectural Pearlescent Powder Coatings

Aesthetic Appeal

The main reason architects love pearlescent powder coatings is their stunning visual effect. The pearlescent pigments reflect light in different ways, depending on the angle, creating a dynamic and eye-catching finish. This makes buildings stand out and can give them a modern, sophisticated look.

Environmental Friendliness

powder coatings are more environmentally friendly than traditional liquid paints. They do not contain solvents, which means they emit fewer volatile organic compounds (VOCs). This is better for the environment and the health of those applying the coatings.

Durability

Pearlescent powder coatings are not just pretty; they are also tough. They form a hard, protective layer that resists scratches, chipping, and fading. This durability is crucial for architectural applications, where surfaces are exposed to the elements and need to maintain their appearance over time.

Ideal Applications

Pearlescent powder coatings can be used on a variety of materials, including metals, plastics, and glass. This versatility makes them suitable for a wide range of architectural applications such as:

  • Door Frames and Windows>/li>
  • Office and Garden Furniture
  • Facade Cladding
  • Shop fittings
  • Lighting

Tested and Approved for the quality mark

Thermaset Limited offer a range of architectural qualicoat powder coatings designed for both interior and exterior use. This range is specially formulated on selected polyester resins and pigments to give a tough decorative finish with excellent outdoor durability. Designed for use on architectural applications such as buildings, window frames, fascia and fencing.

Architectural powder coatings serve as a protective layer for architectural elements like aluminium extrusions, window frames, and doors in buildings. Unlike traditional liquid coatings, these are applied as dry powder and solidify under heat to form a tough, long-lasting finish. This method ensures a consistent coating thickness, excellent coverage, and a smooth surface. These coatings not only enhance the appearance of architectural components but also shield them from corrosion, weather damage, and UV rays.

Durability and Longevity

Architectural powder coatings outperform traditional liquid coatings in durability. They’re engineered to endure harsh environmental conditions, ensuring lasting protection for coated surfaces. The curing process makes them resistant to chipping, scratching, fading, peeling, and corrosion. This durability ensures that buildings maintain their appearance and strength, even when faced with tough weather and daily use.

Environmental Sustainability

In today’s world, being eco-friendly is important. Our architectural powder coatings aren’t just strong and long-lasting; they’re also good for the environment. They don’t contain harmful substances like volatile organic compounds (VOCs) or hazardous air pollutants (HAPs), making them a green choice for architectural projects.

Aesthetic Versatility

We understand that architectural design is a reflection of creativity and innovation. That’s why we offer a wide range of colours, textures, and finishes to suit any design vision. Whether you’re aiming for a sleek, modern look or a rustic, textured finish, our architectural powder coatings can bring your creative concepts to life. Coatings can be matched to customer supplied samples or to many of the RAL and BS colour ranges.

Versatile applications

Architectural powder coatings are useful for both indoor and outdoor applications. They provide sturdy, good-looking finishes for metal surfaces, resisting weather damage, rust, and sunlight. Indoors, they improve aesthetics and are easy to maintain. Outdoors, they protect structures from tough weather, keeping them looking good and structurally sound. With lots of colour options and textures, architectural powder coatings are perfect for projects like commercial buildings and city landscapes.

Thermashield is our special range of antimicrobial powder coatings which is specially designed to provide an extra layer of protection to various surfaces by incorporating SteriTouch antimicrobial technology. ThermaShield is a product range which can be used in a wide range of everyday applications including hygiene-critical environments and areas of high human traffic. SteriTouch prevents the growth of bacteria, biofilm, mould and other viruses by up to 99.99% for the lifetime of the product. It works continuously and effectively and is already used by a huge range of industries worldwide.

How Do Antimicrobial Coatings Work?

Antimicrobial powder coatings contain additives in the form of silver ions that stop microbes from growing. When microbes come into contact with the coated surface, silver ions embedded in the material substrate are released via ambient moisture and enter the cell membrane. The silver ions destabilise the cell, stop respiration and inhibit cell division, whilst blocking the replication of DNA, killing the cell.

Benefits of Antimicrobial Powder Coatings

There are several advantages to using antimicrobial powder coatings, making them popular in various industries. Here are some key benefits:

Enhanced Durability

Our antimicrobial powder coatings are not only protective against microbes but also durable against scratches, chips, and other forms of wear and tear. This means your surfaces will look better and last longer.

Aesthetic Versatility

Beyond its antimicrobial properties, Thermashield enhances the visual appeal of surfaces. Available in a wide range of colours and finishes, it allows for customization while maintaining its protective qualities. This makes it an ideal choice for both functional and aesthetically pleasing environments.

Improved Hygiene

Thermashield coatings offer unparalleled hygiene by actively inhibiting the growth of bacteria, mould, and fungi on surfaces. This proactive approach ensures that environments, especially those in healthcare and food processing, remain clean and safe for employees and customers alike.

Safe and Approved

All of the active substances used are approved by the EPA, EFSA and FDA, and are supported for authorisation under the Biocidal Products Regulation. We do not use Nano-silver, triclosan or other organic antimicrobial additives which have health or environmental concerns. The additives we use are non-leaching and non-sensitising.
