Each product within the Eco-Cure range targets specific application needs:

  • Eco Epoxy is ideal for indoor applications requiring strong chemical resistance, with a curing window starting as low as 140°C.
  • Eco Epoxy/Polyester offers a tough, decorative finish suited for indoor applications like domestic appliances and office furniture, with a cure schedule of 160°C for just 10 minutes.
  • Eco Polyester delivers excellent durability for both interior and exterior applications and achieves a reduction in curing temperature by up to 40°C.

For companies committed to making responsible, energy-efficient choices, Thermaset’s Eco-Cure range is the ideal coating solution.

As the first in our articles celebrating 40 years of business, where better to start than with our most loyal employees or the “Genesis Boys”. Thermaset prides itself on its retention of staff and how better to illustrate this than the story of David, Frank, Andy and Pete.

David has been here since day 1 in his role of Production Director. He remembers watching the Superbowl before his first day and has been integral to the growth and success of the company. He thoroughly believes in the mantra of “don’t ask anybody to do a job you wouldn’t do yourself”. Consequently, David can often be found elbow deep in powder on the shop floor getting that urgent requirement out for a customer.

Frank joined in the first year of Thermaset, having previously worked with David. His Laboratory and Chemistry expertise was vital to Thermaset in the first fledgling years of the company. With this knowledge along with both on the job training and external accreditation he has worked his way up to QHSE Manager. He has responsibility for all Laboratory based work as well as being the Health and Safety Officer on site. Nothing gets past Franks’s pedantic gaze.

Frank & Dave from Thermaset

Andy and Pete are the longest serving employees here at Thermaset. Pete’s dad was the original maintenance engineer and Pete was brought on board when we moved to our larger premises in 1987. Pete was initially employed to do building works on the new site and was then moved to production where he has been ever since. Brother-in-law Andy joined the fold a couple of years later, keeping the “family feel” around Thermaset. Their vast experience and knowledge of every aspect of the manufacturing process has meant they have an expertise of powder that is second to none. With this insight of both the business and the process they are integral to the training of new starters and development of employees as they further their journey at Thermaset.

Thermaset are able to formulate anti-microbial powder coating using anti-bac traits which is able to kill up to 99.9% of bacteria including MRSA and E.Coli.

The anti-bacterial powder is developed using selected resins and light-fast pigments which will provide excellent durability as well as a high resistance to yellowing. The TGIC-free polyester powder is formulated for both interior and exterior use.

When spraying anti-microbial powder coating the optimum thickness is between 60-70 microns. The powder is often used on hospital beds, laboratory equipment as well as agricultural equipment.

Previously all anti-microbial items have been made as specials but Thermaset now have 2 anti-microbial stock items. 9016 Traffic White (TLAB-G186-G) and 9910 Hipca White (TLAB-C917-G) are both available in gloss from stock for free next day delivery.

With the current slowdown in the Chinese economy there are widespread fears that it will have a severe impact on global economic prospects.

Gill Mcelhannan, Managing Director of Thermaset Ltd said:

“There’s no denying that market conditions are challenging but we are looking to announce in more detail – later this year – plans for the redevelopment of our research and development facilities to accommodate a training school and showroom facility. This will allow us to show the latest products and innovations within the powder coating industry and enable us to enhance the overall experience of our customers.

This year is going to be a very significant one for Thermaset – not only marking huge expansion plans, but also to include ‘collaborations’ with major universities, which will enable us to compete and penetrate new markets through new products and technology. In addition, we will continue invest in the development and training of our people who are so vital to the success of our business.”

“We supply powder coatings to a wide range of customers including automotive manufacturers, architects, furniture and household goods, garden equipment suppliers, sports equipment and many more.

Key to building our business is targeting new markets and reaching the specifiers is vital. This year we are exhibiting at Ecobuild (Stand E6090) at Excel London (March 8-10) for the first time.”

Qualicoat Accreditation

ISO 14001 Certification

Thermaset has sought to establish a reputation in the powder coating sector for its stability and reliability; and has one of the country’s biggest ranges of stock powders available for next day delivery across the UK.

Thermaset, which has Qualicoat Accreditation, is working towards the international standard ISO 14001 Certification, and is therefore putting environmental management at the heart of its business. The company provides technical advice on selecting the most suitable product for a given application from thousands of formulations and offers a bespoke colour matching service.

In January 2016 the company launched a new suite of individual A4 product brochures covering Thermaset’s Spectra range and Ripple Finishes, a description of its Hygienilac Antibacterial powder coatings and a Stock Range brochure.

The specification brochures include four pages of product samples demonstrating the extensive ranges of RAL colours and finishes available. The Spectra range from Thermaset is new to the market and is a collection of diverse finishes which are an exciting alternative to standard RAL and BS colours.

Thermaset’s tactile ripple finishes are also imaginatively presented demonstrating their decorative qualities for applications such as shop fittings, garage doors, office equipment and much more.

The Hygienilac Antibacterial brochure gives the reader the full low down on this UV stable anti-bacterial product which does not employ silver technology. The brochure outlines the science, comparisons with silver technology, the mechanism of action, and the extent of the range of coatings.
